From the Same Tree: A Performance for the 395th Anniversary of Gustav Adolfi Gümnaasium

“From the Same Tree” is a reflective pause and a day of celebration in the endlessly long journey of Gustav Adolfi Gümnaasium, in its 395th year of operation. If something has grown and matured for 395 years around the sun, it is a living witness to the passage of time. It is memory. Beneath its bark, in 395 growth rings tightly gathered around one another, live almost four centuries’ worth of storms, sunlight, harsher winters and warmer springs. We gently touch these layers to understand how on earth we have come this far—we who are made from the same tree. From the same tree. The performance offers a chance to look both around us and within ourselves, to sense our place and role in this great community and in the story of time. There is something that binds us forever, because we are that 395-year-old tree.
