Dvořák · Jõeleht | REJOICE × Orthodox Singers

On 1 November, REJOICE Ensemble and Orthodox Singers join forces for a concert at Tartu Pauluse kirik. The programme features Antonín Dvořák’s Mass in D major and a new work by Estonian composer Lauri Jõeleht. The concert opens with Lauri Jõeleht’s Kyrie (33rd prayer to the Redeemer), written especially for this project. Its contemporary, intense musical language sets the stage for Dvořák’s music.

Antonín Dvořák’s Mass in D major, Op. 86, is written for soloists, choir and organ. Powerful choral passages alternate with quieter, more intimate moments, and the organ plays an important role in the work.

The concert brings together two professional vocal ensembles. Orthodox Singers has been led by Valeri Petrov since 1989 and has performed in many European countries and the United States. In 2025, REJOICE Ensemble received second prize in the professional choirs category at the Hajnówka International Festival of Orthodox Church Music in Poland.
