Night’s Due invites the audience into a nocturnal refuge—a time when bodies seek shelter and gather before dispersing at dawn. This is the night’s own time: a dance in the darkness that lasts until the rhythm breaks down. These are movements that cannot be archived because they cannot be seen. Coming together is one of humanity’s oldest needs. Patterns and rhythms recur year after year: eating and drinking, birth and death, sex and bodily cycles. Here, dance is not merely created by humans, but is a force—a flow or a frenzy that does not end with humanity. The production unpacks tradition back to the origins of humankind, opening up the birth of peoples, the migration of cultures and their estrangement, and the ways we continually recode movement in the modern world. The tradition of Night’s Due is embodied memory. Its patterns and rhythms exist independently of us—before and after us.
