The Collector

John Fowles / Kersti Heinloo “The Collector”—a thriller. John Fowles’ *The Collector* is a masterfully written dark thriller that opens a door into the darkest recesses of the human soul. How does love turn into violence, admiration into possessiveness? Where does a person find the courage to decide another person’s life and freedom? At what moments is it still possible to take a few steps back? Can we truly see another person, or do we want to see only our own fantasy—and stop at nothing, even using violence, to achieve it? What fairy tales do we tell ourselves?
