Tallinn City Life Museum invites everyone to a Family Day on 28 November! For the occasion, the museum team has prepared something special: a unique short performance, “Three Gold Strips: A Day in the Life of a Merchant’s House.” It’s a story not to be missed!

Imagine stepping over the threshold and finding yourself in medieval Tallinn. At Vene 17, on what was then Munga Street, wealthy merchant Hans Viant lives with his family in a merchant’s house. The house is full of everyday activity, unexpected events and stories waiting to be told. The short performance takes visitors into the heart of the family’s daily life to discover what might once have happened in the house, and what mysterious connection links three tiny gold strips with our merchants’ house.

During the day, you can also join introductory tours of the house and learn more about its history. Children and adults alike can get hands-on in a workshop, where they can make their own gold strips. There will also be a scavenger hunt throughout the day, inviting visitors to notice the exhibits and details in the house that they might otherwise pass by.

Come and enjoy a special day in a medieval merchant’s house! History is not only found in books. Sometimes it is waiting right behind the door of an old merchant’s house.

Programme:
11:00–15:00 Workshop in the education room: “Three Gold Strips”
12:00–13:00 Introductory tour of the merchant’s house in Estonian
14:00–14:30 Short performance: “Three Gold Strips: A Day in the Life of a Merchant’s House.” Starts on the first floor
